This is a fan site, still in the works.
The goal is to have a list of all the musical tracks that Bob Parlocha played on his dailiy radio show, and to be able to search/sort that list as desired.
It started as a thought one day: "I wonder what song Bob has played the most on-air"
It struck me that it would be interesting to get a complete set of his playlists, and clean them up and cross reference them with the actual artists and albums, and make it all searchable and generate some statistics from them - like artists and songs that got played the most, albums that he pulled the most music from, timeframes that he played from the most, etc. I think his ear for Jazz was and would continue to be a great inspiration to both new and old listeners of Jazz, and a great resource for others who want to know more about Jazz and Bob's relation to it.
I was able to download 95% of the playlists from the JSN Network, but not all - from 10/1/2005 through 9/25/2014. This is definitely a "labor of love", as the playlists were filled with typos, inconsistent spellings, references that weren't correct or were incomplete, and inconsistencies betweeen facts around the same song. That said, I'm making the effort to fix ALL of that bu verifying the actual artist/album/song/composer names, run time, and the catalog number. Some songs were played once, some were played hundreds of times. A variety of sources are being used to do that - Discogs.com, SecondHandSongs.com, and the internet at large - using multiple sources if it's not clear or obvious where a song might be found. Particular attention is paid to whether an album was from an artist as a solo endeavor, or as part of a band/trio/quartet/etc.
I have currently gotten though artists whose first names begin with the letter A (which accounts for just over 11,000 of the 290,000 entries), so it's going to be a while before I get this done and active.
If anyone has any of the playlists from JSN from outside the date range mentioned above, and would like to donate them to the cause, free free to send an email to data@bobparlocha.com and let me know what you have.
Thanks for your interest.
